  • Who can live at Jesmond Exchange?

    Students and young professionals are both very welcome to live at Jesmond Exchange.

  • How do I apply?

  • Can I choose my apartment type?

    Of course, we understand that our residents may want different options and we have different types to choose from including one, two, four, five and six bedroom apartments:

    • Standard two bed mezzanine
    • Large two bed mezzanine
    • Deluxe two bed apartment (set over one level)
    • Premium two bed mezzanine
    • Standard one bed mezzanine
    • Large one bed mezzanine
    • Premium one bed mezzanine
    • Four bed apartment
    • Five bed apartment
    • Six bed apartment
  • When should I book?

    As soon as you have decided that Jesmond Exchange is for you we would recommend you book your apartment. Simply call 0191 269 9920 or click here to start your booking process.

  • What is the contract length?

    We can offer a host of tenancy start dates from July to September 2020. Tenancy lengths are 51 weeks.

    If you require a different tenancy term please contact the team and we will see what we can do to help.


  • Is there a reservation fee?

    No. There are no reservation fees applicable at Jesmond Exchange.

  • What is included in the rent?

    The following utility bills – electricity, gas and water – 100mb and above secure internet connection and contents insurance.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

    You have a seven day cooling off period in case you change your mind. After this period if you withdraw from the proposed letting or do not execute the Agreement by the due date, your one weeks rent holding deposit will be forfeited to Exchange Residential Ltd.

  • Do I need to pay a deposit?

    Yes. We require initially a holding deposit of one weeks rent to secure a property. This will then go towards your damage deposit which is due before your tenancy starts and a few weeks after paying the holding deposit. Your damage deposit is equivalent to one months rent.

  • Do I have to pay council tax?

    Students are exempt from council tax, but young professionals will need to make the appropriate council tax payments.

    You can find out the council tax band for your apartment by searching NE2 2JA on the DirectGov website.

    You’ll then need to visit the  Newcastle City Council website to find out how much you’ll need to pay.

    Please note that these figures from Newcastle City Council can be subject to change.

  • What is a tenancy agreement?

    This is the legal contract between landlord and tenant. The agreement will include the terms and conditions of a tenancy such as the duration of the agreement and the rental amount payable by the tenant. Once you have signed the agreement you will not be permitted to make any changes, however, if you have any questions prior to signing please let us know.

  • Do I need a guarantor? Who can be my guarantor?

    A guarantor needs to be someone in full-time employment based in the UK. Your guarantor could be a member of your family or close friend who will be able to pay your rent in case you can’t.

  • I don’t have a guarantor – what are my other options?

    You can pay for your rent in one of the following manners:

    • 2 equal instalments
    • Single payment
  • I don’t live in the UK and don’t have a UK bank account – what should I do?

    You can pay your rent by transferring the amount to our account, please contact the team for details. When you arrive in the UK we advise you to open a bank account.

  • Why choose Jesmond Exchange?

    Jesmond Exchange is a unique accommodation, the only one of its kind within the hugely popular area of Jesmond. We offer brand new apartments with the benefit of having all your bills included, meaning you can live the Jesmond experience in premium accommodation without the hassle of setting up and paying bills yourself.

  • How much more is double occupancy on a standard one bed apartment?

    On all Standard One Bed Apartments it will be an extra £10 for double occupancy.


  • What furniture is in my apartment?

    Each of our different apartment types have the same high quality furniture suites. A full list of furniture can be requested from the Exchange Residential team.

  • Is there parking available?

    Parking spaces are available at an additional cost to your rent.

    These are priced at £10 per week with a £30 deposit. If you would like a parking space, please get in touch with the team on

  • Can I smoke in my apartment?

    No. Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the development. Residents wishing to smoke should do so outside of the building and should not smoke close to the building entrances.

  • Will I have a TV in my apartment?

    Wall mounted SMART TVs with built in DVD players are supplied in the living area of all apartments.

    Normal TV Licensing Authority regulations apply. For more information on TV licensing visit: Please note that the landlord is not held responsible for ensuring you have a TV license. All live streaming devices will need to be covered by a TV license.

  • What are the guest policies?

    Jesmond Exchange will be your home so you are allowed to have guests stay occasionally in line with your Tenancy Agreement, but we would ask you to respect your neighbours at all times.

  • Is contents insurance included?

    Yes. Policy detail will be provided to you on check-in. Please check these details to ensure they provide you a sufficient level of cover for your specific items. Jesmond Exchange cannot be held responsible for insufficient cover or items not covered on this list.

  • Will my apartment be cleaned?

    It is your responsibility to clean your own apartment.

    There will be a housekeeping team on-site who will provide cleaning for the building’s communal parts such as halls and entranceways.

  • Is there a curfew?

    No, Jesmond Exchange will be your home and you will be able to come and go as you please, however we do request that you respect your neighbours and keep noise to a minimum in the evening.

  • What if something in my apartment breaks?

    We have a maintenance team in place to maintain the building to the highest of standards. Should you have a problem with anything in your apartment, if your fridge stops working (as an example), you should contact 0191 269 9920 or email details of your issue to

  • Is the accommodation suitable for postgraduate students and young professionals?

    Yes, postgraduates and young professionals are very welcome at Jesmond Exchange.

Moving in

  • How do I check in?

    We organise your move in day in advance and will send you details of your move in slot. We require proof of identification (e.g. passport or driving license) and visa (if applicable), then we can give you your keys!

  • Can I move in early?

    The Tenancy start dates are from July until September. Please get in touch to discuss.


  • Where is my post delivered?

    Dedicated post boxes for apartments are located in the west entrance lobby.

  • Is there a laundry?

    Yes, there are communal laundry facilities featuring both washing and drying machines.

    These are provided by Circuit Laundry and utilise a pay-per-use system with digital cards for your laundry credit or the newly available app.

  • Is there bicycle storage on site?

    Yes, there is secure bicycle storage for you to use free of charge situated in the courtyard. However, it is operated by key and we require a deposit of £10 for this.

  • Can I change my apartment?

    If you would like to change to a different apartment this can be done (subject to availability) and an administration charge of £50.00.

  • How do I safely dispose of rubbish?

    You should take rubbish out every day to prevent bad smells and pest infestation and deposit the bags in the bin stores. Please separate your regular waste from your recycling and use the appropriate bins provided for each.
